Sea Ranch Wool Works

Welcome to Sea Ranch Woolworks -- featured in January in the San Francisco Chronicle

Our dream is to bring California grown and processed natural fibers to consumers of fine knitting yarn, roving for handspinners, and knitwear. Most of our yarn and knitwear comes from our local "Fibershed" or 150 miles from Western Marin County; in this way we seek to support local ranches and artisans who produce fiber and finished knitwear in a fair trade, environmentally sound and sustainable way. Take the sheep at the Sea Ranch, on the northern Sonoma coast -- they produce the majority of fiber from which our yarn comes. Add to that a small ranch in El Dorado County, which produces much of our alpaca for our wool/alpaca blended yarn. As we develop the local dyeing industry, we still cannot get all of the raw materials we need here, so some of our finished products and some of our dyed yarn comes from beyond the Fibershed, but it is still all natural -- no synthetics -- and other yarns are sourced as much as possible from the United States. We hope you will enjoy shopping here and supporting ranchers, producers, and artists close to home.

Retailers interested in carrying our pure California yarns, please message us for details.

Thanks!
